![]() ![]() My new plan is to buy some books and start learning. I have finally accepted that I am not going to be able to simple watch some videos and design something all of these programs seems to require a more in depth understanding of CAD design. Also, every online video or tutorial I look at/for all assumed you already knew the software at least a little bit. Doing simple things like snapping and centering an object to the top of another object are nearly impossible for a "learning person" to figure out. ![]() Didn't spend more than 15 minutes with it.įusion 360: definitely much more robust, but also assumes you know CAD basics. ![]() It's fine if I want to make square box with a hole, but I found its functionality was over simplified (which is fine - that's what it is for).ġ23D Design: crashes constantly and lagged a ton. Tinkercad: very simple object building is fine, but next-step functionality is missing (ie, chamfer, fillet). My biggest complaint is that so far none of these packages seem "intuitive" - by intuitive, I mean they all assume you some sort of CAD background, which is why I am struggling. I have been an IT consultant for over 20 years and can typically pick up anything pretty quickly, but not this. However, I didn't anticipate just how big of a struggle it would be. Now that I am getting more comfortable with the setup and general use of the printer, I am wanting to do some simple design work and really struggling.Īs I don't have an engineering background or experience with design software, I knew this part was going to be a struggle. My son and I have been 3D Printing just since Christmas with a Printrbot Simple Metal Kit.
